CELESTIAL GARDENS

                  ON THE HILLS OF BANAWA

Sunday afternoon.

I tried exploring the hills of Banawa, Cebu City as this is the home of Celestial Gardens, a private cemetery and the popular Stations of the Cross where people flocked during the Lenten season.  Out of my curiosity, I decided to drop a visit to find for myself what this place is all about.

It was an hour before sundown that I was not having that much time to totally explore the area.  Besides, I was engrossed by the sculpture of the horseman where I spent most of my time in there taking most of the shoots.

And the sun gave its warning sign. It has to set on one of those hills.

It left me no choice but to bid my goodbye to the area. One last final look at the Cebu skyline from atop one of these hills.

And there I go...I just found for myself a nice place just right for my solitude.. a haven to ponder on things you just can't have in that crowded place below.

PLAZA de INDEPENDENCIA

                             the "new" PLAZA LIBERTAD

My wanderings took me again to Cebu's famous historical park, the PLAZA de INDEPENDENCIA in downtown area, which has been re-opened to the public just lately.  It was indeed a far cry to what I used to visualize of the old park years back.

It was truly a new environment, cool and shady and a sight to behold for relaxation and recreation.

And it should be.
Afterall, the city government has spent millions in its renovation and beautification. Job well done.

HERITAGE OF CEBU MONUMENT

                                DOWNTOWN SPREE

Hiking action put on the shelf today.

This Sunday, we were originally planning to do a hiking activity from Guadalupe area to the RCPI tower ( not familiar with the area, though ) but our guide, a trekking enthusiast, was not able to take his leave off his work, leaving us with no choice but to put the action momentarily on the shelf.
But with my wandering feet? No. I should find myself elsewhere to enjoy this weekend.  And my destination was the Heritage of CEBU monument in downtown Colon.

The HERITAGE of CEBU MONUMENT is located in the historic Parian District, home to most prominent families in Cebu during the Spanish period. It is a tableau of sculptures showcasing significant and symbolic events related to the history of Cebu.

So, there goes my history...and my story for the day :)

OLANGO..as the sun sets

Two years ago, I was able to set foot on the island of Olango. And I witnessed the setting of the sun on this side of the island as I took wonder of this very beauty that faded before my eyes.

This year, I planned to go back to this place to try another shoot at its setting sun. And what's more? Hmmm., maybe a side trip to its birds' sanctuary as late JULY will be the SOUTHWARD migration time.

And this one's noted...checked! :D

DOCE PARES

ADVENTURE ON THE HILLS OF BUSAY

I am no adventurer, I am just out to wander.

That is why when we set foot on the Doce Pares Mountain Training Camp on the hills of Busay, Cebu City, I immediately pulled out my mobile cam and began encircling the area for views to capture while my companions excitedly tried the facilities being offered by Dose Pares.  I'm no good at giving descriptions on the pictures I upload, so just pardon me with this little introduction.

This is my side of the adventure.

And if you are up for the adventure, these are the facilities being offered by Dose Pares. Though ziplines now abound in this side of Cebu, but still they managed to have their own features.  And one of the few things I observed was that most of their facilities were made of bamboos.
